Soundarya qualifies for Visually Challenged Chess Olympiad

Odisha teenager Soundarya Pradhan qualified for the Visually Challenged Chess Olympiad by finishing fifth in the 12th National `A’ Chess Championship for Visually Challenged, which was organised by All-India Chess Federation for the Blind at Dharavi, Mumbai from March 3 to 11, 2017.

Kishan Gangolli of Karnataka successfully defended the title for the fourth time consecutively, scoring 10.5 points out of a possible 13. Top five finishers will represent India in the Visually Challenged Olympiad to be held in Macedonia in the month of June, 2017. Other three qualifiers are: Patil Shirish (Maharashtra), Ashvin Makwana (Gujarat), Arayan Joshi (Maharashtra).
